Dr. Janani Sundaram is a General Paediatrician with a special interest in Developmental and Behavioural Paediatrics, with extensive experience caring for children with acute and chronic medical conditions from newborn to 16 years of age. She is passionate about helping children with complex developmental and behavioural conditions, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), learning difficulties, speech and communication delays, and behavioural challenges.
Janani obtained her medical degree and Diplomate of National Board (DNB) in Paediatrics from India before relocating to Australia, where she pursued Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in Paediatrics and Child Health. She subsequently completed over 10 years of general paediatric and neonatal training in Australia. Her Australian experience spans leading institutions including Westmead Hospital, Royal Hospital for Women, Blacktown Hospital, Wagga Wagga Base Hospital and Fairfield Hospital across tertiary, metropolitan and rural settings, including culturally diverse communities in Western and South Western Sydney.
Janani believes in approaching health holistically and seeks to understand each child within the context of their family and community. Through her work, Janani collaborates closely with families, allied health professionals, teachers, general practitioners and paediatric subspecialists to provide the best care for children. She is also experienced in supporting neonates and their families following NICU discharge.
Janani is multilingual and can speak English, Tamil and basic French.
